Default Help with tune, I am very close!!

Alright I have been trying to get the issues fixed myself, but I am hitting a wall here. This is the latest. I did a lot of playing around and the CL definitely helps, and I think it might have cured the stalling issues, but now it has a “cruise control” feel and it is surging at lower RPMs. I am attaching the latest tune and three log files.

The log file Log_VE_tuning.efi is when I was tuning the VE. It is pretty close, but I wanted to dial in a little more. You can tell I wasn’t far off.

The log file Log_VE&Spark.efi is when I realized that it was using the high-octane spark table and not just the low-octane one (even though I have read if you are in SD, it will always use the low and never the high, can you fill me in on this?). This log also has the adjusted VE from the previous log.

The last log, LogSTLT.efi was after I re-enabled the LTFT and the STFT and closed loop. I also 0’d out the 400 and 800 lines on the throttle cracker table. By far, this latest tune ran the best, but the surging was very annoying, and the STFTs were bouncing negative and 0 the whole time, which makes me think it is something to do with that.

Last file is zipped cause .ctz isn't allowed on here.........yet.

Surging (often times called bucking) while cruising (using cruise or not) is usually caused by to much timing.

Try pull a few degrees of timing out in your cruise range and see what happens.

What about the cruise control feeling? Would timing do this too? Basically it won't decelerate when cruising about 10MPH.

Yea, it'll probably do it worse.

I don't know what its called in efi live but do you have your base airflow table dialed in? Sometimes to much in that table will cause that cruise control effect, also the throttle follower table might need some tweaking

Lower your base running airflow table about 5% and see if that helps. Tuning idle and return to idle is the hardest part of tuning.

Yes, that is the table that I have spent most of my time in. I have lowered and raised it several times to try and find the sweet spot. The logging is showing that the base airflow table is only off by .50, but when I lower it, it can cause stalling.

I was thinking about trying to dial in VE table more since I know it is a big base for many things in the tune. The only thing about that is that all the logging that I have been doing is showing that I am +/- .02 in most cells.

The surging seems to be because the STFTs are bouncing back and forth so much between negative and positive while cruising.

So atomic and tdub, you guys don't think it could be timing related? I was going to try that anyways.

Maybe, how much timing are you running at idle? Cant see the tune at work.

Put the cracker and follower settings back to stock.

Thats really low for cruise but fine for idle. Your problem is not too much timing, its too much air.
