Default Help with beat to death subject: o2 sensor readiness

I know it's beat to death but I'm having issues. I recently started doing my own tuning. I've had the rear o2 sensors deleted for years with other tuners and have always passed. I've driven the truck about 50 miles since the last re-flash. The o2 sensors and heaters won't go ready so I failed today. The rear sensors are unplugged. Even though all the sensor 2 DTC's are set to no error reported should the actual sensors still be plugged in or can they be completly deleted? I need to get those two to go ready. Thanks.

I didn't have emission testing here but I had to keep the rears plugged in to stop the cat test in the computer from going off everytime I started and ran the truck. It was something you couldn't shut off in my sierra. I wonder if that played a part in the emission part of ready tests.

If you have them, it can't hurt to plug them back in a zip tie them to the frame.

I have my rears completely unplugged. It sounds like they are not fully turned off in the tune. What tuning software? Post your tune so someone can check it over.

I was messing around with it a little. I turned off anything to do with sensor 1 heater and the oxygen sensor heater went ready. Do you think I just need to drive it more or was I supposed to turn off all sensor 1 and sensor 2 TDC's? All the other threads I've seen say only sensor 2.

Are you meaning sensors 1&2, or banks 1&2?

You need your sensors 1 but, you can turn your sensors 2 off on both banks.

Once they have been disabled, you need to drive for a little while, usually around 80 to 100 miles after a battery change or pcm reflash before the pcm determines that the rear sensors are ok and the cats are ok.

Hope this helps.
