Default Got the Nelson tune and have a question

What keeps the truck when trying to foot brake it at 2200 rpms? Is it the rear brakes or what? My truck on dry payment will not foot brake over that and given the 3.23 gears I need anything to get me out of the hole as fast as possible.

Are you talking about the torque converter? It seems kinda obvious but torque converters will only brake stall to a certain RPM.

Do you have a stock torque converter? If so, the stocker only should go to 1800rpms so I'd say you're doing pretty damn good if you can get it to brake stall to 2000

Yup. If you want to brake stall it higher than that you'll want to get an aftermarket torque converter. Yank and PI are the two favored brands.

I would think it would be more of a brake or traction thing that a torque converter. I know that a TC has a point at which it flashes but this doesn't make much sence. I don't think that the TC is the problem, I just sold a 99 Tahoe and when I had the trans rebuilt I had a looser TC put in it and it should have stalled at 2400, It would foot brake til the rear broke loose. I don't know what it could be, I know the 3.23s suck ***!

Well,3.23's are turd gears.IMO they are best for the highway, not behind a N/A truck. That right there is killing it.4.10's along with a 3000 stall torque converter and you will think it is a different truck
I remember when I bought my crewcab which came with 3.23's.2 weeks later those were out,i could not handle it.

The Tahoe probably had 3.73's in it.

There is a table in the PCM that limits brake stalling. I think stock mine was set at 2000rpm. That could be part of it, but most likely it's just all your stock converter can handle.

B0401 for you EFI Live guys:
Engine RPM must be this much above Idle speed before Brake Torque Management (BTM) can become active.

Brake Torque Management (BTM) is used to reduce engine power by cutting cylinders and reducing the pedal opening on ETC vehicles when your foot is held on the brake in gear and the accelerator is pressed (stalling up the vehicle).
