Default Getting a new tune

Ok so i really dont know that much about tuning but i'm not really happy with the tune that i have now it's a 89 oct for fuel eco. I have a 2010 gmc z71 crew 5.3l cai and a cat-back 308 rear end and i average about 16 mixed driving. Should i tell the tuner anything? Like remove the tq mgt all the way remove the vvt? What do you guys think thanks

WOW! Normally I wouldn't say anything cause I'm MPG conscious, but I gotta.

3:08 gears? I don't even know the last time I've seen that. I usu. don't see below 3.23 on trucks, as that's what GM seems is there economy or normal gear now.

I'd ditch those for somethin better. 3.42 or 3.73 or 4.10. Somethin. Sorry, but even w/. gas bein what it is now, or if goin turbo or s/c, upgrade is in order. Cause those are pretty anemic gears for a truck unless all out economy is what a buyer wants.

TQ Mgmt. is an individual thing, but myself, I had it totally removed. If it worries u, don't do it it. Or some retain a little TQ Mgmt., so that's an option too.

I think 16 mixed is not bad for a 2010 gmc z71 crew. I don't know what you should tell your tuner - I don't know what it is you want.

My $.02 worth, though, would be NOT to remove TM on a factory trans, especially on a big heavy truck like yours. Its life expectancy would be greatly shortened.

What you need is gear and more Torque, until then they won't move well.

the gearing in the six speed makes up for the horrible 3.08 gears. i would still throw them away and go with more gear but i think some are thinking this truck has a 60e.

Even with those 3.08s he's still got 23% more torque to the ground in 1st gear than my 4l80 with 4.10s. Torque multiplication is almost identical in 1st to a 4l60 with 4.10s.

I say leave the gears for the time being and increase power, specifically torque, as stated.
