Default Getting 07 Tahoe to run on E85

Just seeing what if there was anything I could do to make it run on this. It did not come from the factory with "Flex Fuel" but with gas prices the way they are, I would really like to run some E85 because it's about $2 a gallon compared to $2.65. It would really save me some money. Especially since I put about 400-500 miles a week on it. I have HPTuners and am able to tune it but just seeing if anyone has done this.

Many LSx cars and trucks running around on E85 that werent flex fuel from the factory including my truck. Your mileage will drop off some with E85 though, however I have been running on it for about 3 months now and even with the drop in mpg I am still saving about $15-$20 a week over 93 octane.

BTW very easy to setup the tune for it.

For daily driving you'll be fine but I don't know if your injectors will support WOT @ higher rpms. So be careful..

The easiest way is to just reduce your injector size by 22% and it should run like it did stock. Cold starting might take a bit more tweaking but that should get you going. You'll be able to run more timing and lean cruise too..

Good luck I have run it on several of my vehicles and other than having to change a fuel filter have never had and issue.

Make sure you adjust your stoich...... thats imperative... The injector duty cycle will also raise A lot!!! you will be able to add some timing... she will like that...

I'll get the injectors so I shouldn't have a problem there. On the stoich, what do I need to adjust it to? Does it just depend on how much fuel is in there? I've never messed with anything like this.

E85 runs alot leaner at the same ratio as regular fuel, so what they mean is that you need to run alot more fuel to overcome, this is the reason that the fuel mileage drops so much with running E85. Good luck man

Why is it imperative?

My question was directed at cfount79. I've been running E85 on some of my toys for 8 years. And while there are several ways to tune it isn't imperative to change your stoich to match E85 in the tune. This topic usually generates a lot of commentary from people who have never used it or tuned for it.

My current tune is setup for boost with E85 and I don't have stoich set @9.87 and it runs great.
