I just noticed you are from Tyler. Earlier this month I was driving back from Bennigans to Kilgore and purposely taking it really slow. I reset my Ave. Fuel Econ gauge when I left and it read 23.5MPG when I pulled into my driveway.

I vote for coasting in neutral. The compression braking of the engine has to be worse than the fuel used to idle the motor in neutral.

If it's a manual, I doubt the mileage affliction will be measurable. I tend to coast to a stop because I'm too lazy to keep my foot on the clutch all the time in Atlanta traffic. It's doesn't hurt anything to pull a synchronized manual transmission of gear though.
Got it.

If I had a program like EFIlive or HPTuners, could I bring up a chart to monitor my fuel usage in both situations?

Those 16:1 pistons get the best deceleration milage by far .
