Default Fuel Sender Issue?

A few months ago started noticing that my fuel gauge would work fine until the half tank mark, then stick. Figured it was just a bad stepper motor so had the cluster rebuilt. While my cluster was out I put a known good one in the truck for temporary use. Same problem. Is it a common issue to have the sending unit stick at one point? I put 18 gallons in the truck today with the gauge reading just a hair under half, so I can be sure its a good way off.

Great...any good way to fix it? Or just keep a close eye on milage? I go back and forth between McPherson and Manhattan and Wichita a lot, so I dont want to run the risk of running out half way.

If I remember right its the resistor that needs replaced for the sending unit, I would just buy another and be done with it,

Buy another resistor or complete sending unit?
On another Site I read a post where the OP said he replaced the fuel pump and still has a flopping needle.
Is the sending unit part of the pump or separate?
