Default False knock explored........

Well fellas- as most of you know I've gone the HPT route and can't be happier. THing is, there seems to be a predominant spot for a knock, always under the same load and throttle position and no matter how much I dial the timming down I always get the knock in the same spot, albeit clightly less. So I'm arriving at the conclusion that this is maybe a valve spring or something else somewhere making this noise that tricks the knock sensor into thinking it's an actual knock. I know the 94- 96 Impala SS folk had issues when installing 1.6:1 rockers and had to pirate an LT4 knock sensor so the knock sensor wouldn't freak out.
Any thoughts on this...............
Thanks

Smoothing out your tables may help with this. An abrupt change from one cell to another could cause this. Check your Ve and timing tables to start.

What load and RPM are you having this issue? Can you post your tune and log?

THanks- I'll try posting the tune. It happens under light thottle applications, ie light load situations- which is why I'm leaning to think that it's a false one..........

Look into into the sensativity of your knock sensors in this particular area in question. This should fix it...

Nope, can't hear the knock, and I've painstakingly smoothede the table. THat thought about the sensor sensitivity just popped into my head. I'll get a scan off the lap top and post up......

we need more info. I know some people HATE the idea of turning down the decay rate, but it sure helps me identify false knock. also spring for some high octane and see if the knock is still there......

if it happens in the same areas everytime and higher octane and/or lower spark doesn't fix it, then go into those knock sensor settings and tone them down.

I've run a tank of premium here and there but can't recall if it made a difference, sure wasn't a seat of the pants difference. Just for kicks- how do you desensitize the knock sensors? Adjust the decay up or down............

Check your burst knock settings, esp. the retard vs. ERT vs. ECT table.
