Default elementry MAF question

I'm an old speed density guy so excuse my ignorance.
Will the computer take signals from the maf @ WOT and adjust A/F accordingly or is it a predetermined setpoint like with speed density? The reason I ask is i'm wanting to install a boost bypass for my radix and was wondering if it would run rich when it would normally be pushing boost? I'm trying to find a way to tame down this gas hog on this truck.

the radix should already have a boost bypass built into it. that's part of it's design. going with a smaller pulley though gets the truck into boost and almost the tip of the throttle. anytime you're in anymore boost than 3-4 psi you pretty much have to be in power enrichment (also known as fuel sucking mode). 3-4 psi with the pulley size that you have on your 4.8 is going to be there by around 35-40% of throttle. what you would find mostly to be a gain in fuel milage is to just get the program in the truck right. the radix programming is very mild on the spark curve and very heavy in the power enrichment although the power enrichment may be needed to be that heavy in your truck with the small pullley. a high boost radix is a fuel sucking machine unless you drive it easy. get yourself some tuning software and you'll likely be able to pick up 1-3 mpg with some work.

if your tuned for boost at wot and you take away the boost everything will be very rich. The maf will help compensate for the incorrect ve/pe table SD values if maf WAS NOT tuned for boost, which is most likely the case if your tuner set it up for speed density. Everything will still be rich though the maf is only half of the fueling equation the other half is going to be incorrect, will it run yes will it run well no.

I appreciate the info. What I meant about the bypass was blocking the vacume in the bypass cyl causing it to stay open. I did that today and realized it just sucked. No boost sucks. I'd rather pay for the gas! I really hope the tune will help. I am getting a tune in a couple of weeks after I get the headers on and cam installed. I still have the factory magnacharger tune in it now.
Thanks guys!
