Electrical Woes
#1
Hi all,
So my latest gremlin has my truck down and that means I am down to only one car between me and the lady. When driving my truck, there are times when the dash guages will all shut off and then the transmission will drop into second gear (at any speed!?!?!&^%#$) and will not down or upshift at all.
Normally, when the guages pop back on, the truck will start shifting normal again. However, the newest thing is that the guages will turn back on, but the tranny will stay in 2nd gear.
This problem surfaced a few years ago, and it was linked to a loose fuse in the box in the dash. I recenlty located a 25 amp fuse (for either the heater & a/c or the wipers) and pushed on it a bit and can watch the guages turn on and off sometimes--its not a constant thing.
#1--has anyone else had this issue?
#2--what do those specific fuses have to do with the guage cluster and the shifting of the transmission?
#3--if anyone HAS had this problem, what did you do to fix it?
I cant drive it on the freeway, because a sudden drop into 2nd @ 80-85MPH wont go over so well. And really, who wants to drive a veh around that is stuck in 2nd gear?
ANY help at all is greatly appreciated.
Truck is a 2000 silverado w/6.0L, radix, 4L80-E, 2wd, 1500, x cab
