Default electrical issue i need some help with

this has been a problem since i bought the truck, its only recently started to happen often. when driving the dash needles just cut off as well as the odometer. for no reason really. im thinking its a grounding issue, anyone have any other ideas what could be causing it?

the pic below the dash just cut out while going down the road. sometimes it cuts back on for no reason as well

Check the ignition switch on the left side of the steering column. It controls voltage to nearly everything electrical on these rigs. That $30 part cost me a transmission when it quit sending signal to the tranny and I burned up my second 60e. Might not be your problem but cluster light/gauge cutout is a classic symptom of a faulty one. Google it..

Hope this helps...

This is the part:

I'd repair the cluster before buying a new one. That way you don't have to spend money to reprogram the mileage into the cluster.

Several places around where I live do repairs to these clusters all the time.

My 99 had a similar issue, it was the connector at the cluster the solder joints broke and had random connections (took apart resoldered it)

like mentioned above clusters are known for failing and the dimmer switch (I had to do both in my wife's 2005)

If you mean the cluster cuts out while driving down the road it's a broken solder joint.

If all the power cuts out like the vehicle was turned off then check the ignition switch.

With the cluster apart, it doesn't appear to have the same issue as the video.

The fourth and fifth pins from the left on the bottom row look questionable through the internet, the two right most ones on the top row, too. The second one from the right on the top even has a piece missing. From what I can see zoomed in as much as possible. You are at the point where you might as well try re-wetting the joints, in my opinion.
