Sounds like everyone here loves handhelds over anything else. I know of a few shops around that the F-body guys seem to love, I think I'll check it out.
Now about the factory warranty. Could I get away w/ getting work done w/ a custom tune?

How can it not be the way you want it? its CUSTOM tuned to the way you want it. The handheld offers what they think is good for you, which depending on your geographical location might be worse than what you have stock.

A warranty can only be void if the dealer determines that the part in question failed as a direct result to a modification you did.
So, If you tune out your tq management and your transmission goes out, they'll look at your tune to make sure TQ management is there, If its not it's void, if its there your good.
SO, should something like that happen, have the tuner put it back.

However, most dealerships don't look at the tune.

NAH most tuners offer a tuned PCM so all you have to do is just swap it out with your original PCM before any warranty work
