Default ECU reprogram ?'s

Do you have to reprogram the ecu for a 6.0 before you start it up? i'm doin a 4.8 6.0 swap.....with the 4.8 program still effective, can you start the 6.0 up and drive it somewhere to get it tuned?......i want to do a chassis dyno tune so i can get my nitrous tuned and all that jazz

No, I think you have to have a Tuned PCM for the 6.0 first, I could be wrong.

I've read of guys swapping in 6.0's and getting em running with 4.8 and 5.3 tunes, but it'll run like poop. It should be enough to get you going if the tuning facility is local. When I'm finally ready to do my 6.0 swap (many moons from now), I plan to send Bryan at PCMforLess my back-up PCM to have it tuned and ready to go for the 6.0 so I can get it running decently, then set up time to drive out to him to do a street tune to tweak it just right.

does anyone have a spare ecu they want to get rid of?.....all i need to do is get it running good enough to where i can make it 60 miles to get it chassis dyno tuned......if i get it tuned for nitrous but don't have the kit installed during the dyno process....will that hurt anything?

If you are using the same size injectors that were in the 4.8 it will crank and be drivable. Been there done that!
