ok i thought i had it. i figured i would have the middle relay's coil activated by the + AC trigger AND the pin 42 ground signal. that way it would only activate when both were on. but...i ended up with this

that way the left fan can be on by itself, but when the AC is turned on BOTH have to turn on, even if PIN 42 isnt energized.

Yeah, that would still need a third relay to power 87a in the left relay, the A/C clutch wire would not be able to supply enough power for a fan, too.

hopefully this is it:

pin 42 activates giving power to the fan thats already grounded. fan works by itself.

AC trigger wire energizes activating the relay on the left giving the left fan power, while the middle relay also activates due to the ac trigger wire energizing giving the fan ground through the other fans circuit. even if pin 42 isnt activated BOTH fans will be on.

alright, im off for the night! i feel pretty confident about this one.

Well that last one will work. I was waiting for someone to say if pin 42 is energized during A/C also.
