Stewart - the cats are the high-flow cats from ARH. I seriously doubt that they're costing me much HP.

I do realize that my 60' times are plimb awful, but it's NOT for lack of traction. Won't turn a tire at the track, except my first pass on the lane that had just been coolant coated.

Hate to compare too much, but there are several stock cammed, similarly modified L92 trucks that are running well into the 13's at 100 MPH or better. Most weigh a bit less than my truck, but NOT 500-800 #'s less!

As one example - take a gander at Area47's signature for his mod list and performance. I'll bet his truck doesn't weight THAT much less than mine!

Air box is stock, with an AC-Delco filter. May go ahead and pull it and mod for more airflow, but I'm not convinced that it's an issue. I do NOT like oiled-gauze air filters!

Something alse HAS come to mind since I first posted. The 2-3 upshifts were darned near violent. Shifted as if the TCM set itself up for a full-power, WOT upshift, yet the engine was NOT making WOT power. I had my traction control and stabilitrack switched off for each pass, but I'm wondering if there's another GM powertrain "nanny" lurking about? Something to the effect that with TC and ST switched off, and the accelerometer detects high-G acceleration and / or high vehicle speeds, it closes the throttle down or otherwise reduces engine power.

Maybe I got a tank full of crappy fuel and KR was pulling out timing like crazy?

Or - maybe I'm just as crazy as a ****-house rat?

Appreciate your chiming in!

Unfortunately, I can't see additional track time doing ANYTHING to help my MPH - I'm no tuner, LOL! ET, maybe . . .

what muffler are you running, and are there converters in there? im not familiar with the airaid intake (tube only) thing. does it use the stock box and replace the intake tube? if so, what filter and have you cut a hole in the bottom of the stock air box yet? post up a time slip from SAR so we can compare.
Patrick tunes on a Mustang, but it's calibrated to emulate DynoJet results.

Stock muffler.

Unfortunately I have misplaced all of my time slips from SAR last year.

I appreciate your chiming in, and will keep everyone informed. SOMETHING is amiss at high RPMs in 2nd.

for more reference to help ease your pain with this.
5040 is what my truck weighs
17's with factory all terrains
3.73 gear
2wd

violent shifts are not the way to faster times. i learned this the hard way. i slowed mine down and picked up 5 mph. a few tweeks in the tune here and there.

if you're not spinning out of the hole, try going wot a lot sooner. slowly close that window between rolling into it and going wot off the line. that 60ft will drop

most of the guys on this forum use oiled filters with no problems. the trick is to not over oil them. there are some good non oil type filters out there though. all of the little stuff can add up. get a better filter in there and punch a hole in the bottom of your box with a 3" circle saw. you can run some 3" tubing down under your fender to help get some cooler air. let the truck shift itself. 2.20 60' times are average for a stock stalled truck on street tires, so your 60' is on par for the combo.

hell, next time at the track, make a pass, then pull the delco filter out for a pass or 2 and see what it does.

Airraid now sells oiless air filters that look like oiled ones. I have enjoyed my oiled one for over 80,000 miles but I will deffinitely try the oiless one next time. The quality of their filters is awesome.

OK - weight, tires and gear are definitely hurting my performance. Appreciate the info!

Selling my OEM wheels next weekend, and I'll put that money towrds a 3.73 gear and a set of shorter, lighter tires for some 17" spare wheels that I can borrow from an employee.

No HINT of tire spin at launch, when the 3rd bulb comes on I mat the go pedal!

I'll check on those high-flow oil-less air filters! I wonder if AIRAID makes one of theirs to fit the stock airbox?
