Disappointed, to say the least!

Well - to say that I'm thoroughly disappointed would be the understatement of the decade!
Disgusted with the whole damned deal would be more like it . . .
I have absolutely NO idea what to do with my expensive, sluggish turd of a truck . . .
$2000 worth of headers and tune . . . and I gained a whole .14 ET and 3.5 MPH in the 1/4 mile!
Driving style? I was leaving at just above idle, which should help the TC to flash higher than leaving at a higher RPM - is this incorrect? My rediculously big P305/50 tires (I was still running the OEM 275/55's at Nelsons race last year - where I ran a best of 14.57 @ 94)? Need to hire Patrick to tune my junk at the track? 6K RPM shift points too high? Who freaking knows?
As I expected the scales were closed, so I still have no clue what my lead-sled actually weighs.
Got three passes in before the rains came. First pass was a throw-away as I blew the tires off. I was considering trying one of my other ECMs - then the rains came.
Obviously the 2.2+ 60' times are an issue, but where's the other 3-4 MPH I was expecting?
Looking at "Aea47's" mods and 1/4 mile performance, what am I doing wrong?
Sorry for the long rant!

A couple other thoughts came to mind . . .
I made all of my passes with the shift lever in "Manual" mode, "M4" to be exact. NOT with tow/haul mode enabled, of course.
Also, prior to my burnout, I switched off traction control AND stabilitrack - is that the correct mode to make drag strip runs?

The gain of 3-4mph seems about right for your new mods. The only difference from before is LT's and "dyno" tune vs your old "mailorder" tune correct? You need to post DA from your prior runs. 3-4mph is approx about 30-45hp gain.
I'd add a Magnaflow muffler on their to free things up with those headers that breath so well. I'd honestly consider a cam if you expect much more and possibly a converter to go with it depending on cam. You have a free flowing system, but are choking it down with the stock cam and not allowing the cylinder to fill up with enough fuel/air to make the power. After all low's 14's on a stock verter with a stock cam in your heavy truck doesn't seem to bad with the air your running in.

Unfortunately I never ran at the track with the mail order tune, those numbers at SAR last year were on a 100% stock truck. Stock tune, no headers, no AIRAID intake tube, etc. But - I was on P275 tires instaed of my current P305s.
What really has me so upset is that there are a few guys on here running mid to low 13s @ over 100 MPH with similar bolt-on mods and STOCK camshafts.
Oh - the pain . . .

Well, the bigger the tires the slower you go. you need to match your rear
to your tire size. for traction tires i like Nitto 555. what gears do you have ?
I like a 26.5" to 28" dia. tire with 3:73 gears, this will let the truck
accelerate quickly.

You have to get the 60ft times down. That is where its going to make o break you.. Try to get a good hook, prob can with better tires.. Also let the truck shift itself IMO.. I leave it in 3rd and go.. The 2.2 60ft is horrible.. You need some time to get the feel of the track and your truck.. IMO the headers should have made a decent difference, esp with the tune.. You just need to get back out there and make some more runs..

your 60 is killing you. your dyno numbers are up there. patrick tunes on a mustang dyno if i remember correctly so those are some stout numbers! 6000 shouldnt be pulling the RPM too far. just put the truck in drive. the computer can shift better than you can. 3.5 mph is a nice gain from headers alone. figure out that 60'. 90% of a good et is done in the first 60'
what muffler are you running, and are there converters in there? im not familiar with the airaid intake (tube only) thing. does it use the stock box and replace the intake tube? if so, what filter and have you cut a hole in the bottom of the stock air box yet? post up a time slip from SAR so we can compare.

i found your other thread. you spent 1k on headers and kept the converters and stock muffler...kind of like taking a shower while still wearing your underwear. you cant expect to set records while cutting corners. some have seen gains by cutting a 3" hole in the bottom of their airbox for additional air. what air filter. still interested in the SAR time slip too.
