Could a rich tune toast cats in days?
#1
So i replaced my cats with some i bought from another member that had 15k on them. My stockers were rattling to hell and my truck was running like
. I didnt realize how bad my truck was being choked until i replaced them. I actually had exhaust again..before all i heard was engine.
So on the 19th i had them welded in just as before and all was well. Truck ran strong again and my exhaust was back. Drove it for the weekend and then i heard this rattle yesterday. Sounded just like the original cats did when they first started goin bad. I would hear the rattle and it would go away after a while and come back. So i have to have something wrong. Where do i go with this? Could it be an o2? Severe rich condition? I plan to have a live tune locally pretty quick here. Just dont know if i should fix the cat again until i get the tune adjusted. Is it possible for a cat to go out that fast? Thanks guys...

Lean or rich will kill a cat. Excessively lean will creat exhaust temps way to high and begine to melt the catalyst material. Being overly rich will clog them up with carbon depostis.

Ya i was figuring it wasnt a good thing. I will be having justin take a look at it soon. Im just babying it to work for now. Ill post up when i figure out what the culprit is.
Which scenario would explain the shitty mileage? Like 10.. Normal is around 14 or so.
Thanks for the help...
