Take out as much weight as possible. if you city drive run lighter/smaller tires. 34s will help your highway but will murder your city mileage. So going smaller would help. I dunno if the 04's weigh more but as Corey posted up above they have different tunes.

But How long have you had the vehicle? Winter fuel is going to have additives that will decrease your MPG's.

bought it at the begining of bow season, so that would put it around mid september. still cant manage to get more than 246.8 miles to a tank. i could easally get 325 out of my old truck, with the same tires and gearing.

yeah I feel your pain, I have an 06 silverado 5.3 2wd that I just bought and I'm somewhere in the same neightborhood of 10-12mpg city driving that you are...but I just have 30 inch tires, not big by any means. Sucks but I am not jumping to any conclusions yet since I just bought it a few weeks ago and am doing a complete maintenance update on the truck since it has been neglected.

Hopefully after filling her up with synthetic mobile 1, new tranny fluid, spark plugs, spark plug wires, new air filter, seafoam engine flush, and new rear diff fluid, it will pull a few more mpg out of it.

I would also say go for a tune to pull some more mileage out of it, just dont get one of those cheesy hypertech gameboys. I understand the money thing though, I am a student.

I have a 2wd but I have 2600 converter and still the 3.42's and I get 300 to a tank... 250 if I give it lots of hell. I'm just 30 minutes north of you.. I do some local tuning and I could at least make a log for free and help you check things out. I'll let u know when I hit the track in January.... You do the same and we'll meet up.
