Yes. The PCM is tuned for the engine you have. If you take that engine out and increase or decrease cubes then you need to re tune to compensate for the different Cylinder mass.

Default p0174 and p0171

If both of your codes were lean, then yes, a fuel pump could of course do that.
Otherwise, did you switch injectors with the engine? That would throw the tune way off.
Ok I upgraded to a walbro 255 fuel pump and these codes are coming up, could it possibly be a bad pump or tunning issues?

Heres an update, I switched back to my old injectors and retuned (1/6/11) for the 5.3, the truck ran great until today, the check engine light came back on and started idling rough. I don't want to think about it, but is it possible the cylinder is gone once again?

If you've been driving around lean for this entire time and finally re-tuned per our advice then yes, you could have burned it up. Lean is always bad.

Are you getting the same codes?

I am not sure, I didn't drive it that way for more than a couple miles, I went ahead and parked her until my tuner was free, I'm sorry the day I retuned was the 6th of January not the 17th, she was running good until yesterday. I feel dumb for giving the wrong date. But yes retune date was 1/6/11 and Ive driven her around 800-900 miles since then trouble free, no codes, no acting up whatsoever until yesterday, as far as codes go I will be checking them out as soon as the local auto parts opens. Its really worrying me as you can see, its 5am and I cant sleep.

I went ahead and got my check engine light and the truck came up with two codes P0154 and P0174.

PO154 is Oxygen Sensor Circuit - no activity detected ( pre convertor sensor right bank )

PO174 is System Too Lean - Right bank

Seems to me you got a bad o2 sensor.

Thanks, I suspect the same, I know there seems to be endless questions from me and I apologize. I did a little research and came up empty, I am curious as to what brand o2 sensors to go with? Correct me if I am wrong but Delphi is OE correct? Could I use Bosch OE type/ exact fit? Thanks once again.

Yeah delphi is oe.. If you buy aftermarket go with one that is NOT a universal fit. make sure the wiring connectors are the same such as a exact fit o2. I had alot of problems with a universal fit o2 back in the day and i learned my lesson.

Thank you for your help, as soon as I get out of class I will stop by to get the o2s and install them later tonight.
