Default Check Engine light

I just installed the K&N Gen II on my 1999 C/K 1500. It ran good for the test drive but on my way into work the next mornin my sensor fell out of the filter and the check engine light came on so i un hooked the battery and put the sensor back in and tried it again and it was fine for a little bit but later it came back on again and the sensor was still in there... does anyone know what this is all about?

what sensor? maf, iat? if the maf gets oil from the filter it will cause light, but you really got to over do it on the oil.

its the sensor that hooks directly into the end of the filter itself... (air temp sensor). Last night I unhooked the battery and put the sensor back in and it seemed to be fine untill a little bit later the check engine light popped back on again while i was goin down the road but the sensor still seems to be secured. And i havent put any oil on the filter or anything its just how it came from K&N...thanks for your input
