Best spot to put wideband?
#1
Hey guys! Just ordered a gauge pod for my gmc sierra. It's a 2011 5.3 with a magnacharger, jba headers, 6.2 exhaust and dyno tune. I ordered a wideband to keep an eye on my a/f ratio off the dyno. However, im a lil curious as to the best place to put it since there not much room between the collector and cat. Would it be better to put it after the driver's side collector or in the the #7 primary tube? I've read that the #7 cylinder runs the leanest on ls motors.

Put it as close to the engine as possible BUT its not a big deal if its not right in the header if your just wanting to monitor your WOT a/f. On the dyno we always run 2 widebands and one is always clamped on the end of the exhaust. At WOT on the dyno both widebands match within .1 of each other almost all the time even with one being in the header and one being in the end of the exhaust. Now at part throttle or idle they do not match usually.

Just as everyone mentioned as forward as possible, but to add to that place it in the upper portion of the pipe. It is preferred to place it somewhere in the 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock position. When an engine is running it creates moisture. The moisture settles to the lower portion of the pipe. If the sensor is in the moisture it will lower the life of the sensor.
