I was hoping to dial in a good tune and have it start up and go just like it does now. Sometime next week it will have a TR220 cam and 3k stall.

From what I've read - this is possible. How long did it take you guys to stop tuning to where it ran and drove flawlessly?

for me about 6 months to where I felt it was maxed out...I was able to cut off 7 tenths & add nearly 9mph...yes hard to believe but its true. BTW I have all the runs on video, and all runs had near identical 60's in nearly identical conditions so take that into consideration before you pull the bs flag on me

I started tuning on white1's truck for my first ever tune. The combo was a 6.0L transplant with a 223/226 (custom) cam. I had NO idea how to tune but started to wing it. I had the tune dialed in pretty good except he complained about cold morning starts. Then we added Long Tubes and it's never idled right since. With him off in the Carribean I have his truck in my garage, I haven't touched tuning in over 6 months but last night I played with a few numbers before going to bed and I think I'll load it after work and take it for a drive to see what's going on.

How long did it take you to get it in turn-key condition, where it started, idled and drove fine all the time?

This kind of scares me since my truck will see -20 starts and long warm-ups. I would hate to have to sit in my truck for 10 minutes in 20 below temps until it was warm enough to run by itself. Longtubes will be going on mine too.

with my heads/cam camaro it took about 45 minutes.

the car that I was talking about was my current 00 GTP, which doesnt have a cam so it idled & drove fine technically without tuning...just was slow without it.

Probably should clarify. I was recording with the MPVI. I could not connect to PCM with scanner while logging with the MPVI. Yes once I stopped recording/logging with the MPVI I could connect and RTT and log at the same time with the laptop.

yeah, if your trying to do standalone datalogging you can't really interrupt it...just stop it, close the scanner, reopen the scanner & start logging/playing with RTT. If your trying to RTT using your laptop just scan with it

I turn mine on everyknow and then during seasonal changes to makes sure things are lining up and tweak it but for the most part I leave it as is.

One thing Ive been meaning to mess with is tweaking the injector there is a table to modify IFR based on voltages not sure it would have any effect with the small variations in voltage from the startup to running but if I get a little better mileage its worth it. Thats about the only area of my tune that I havent messed with.
