Alternator issues with swap
#1
Ok, so I'm about ready to fire this thing up after my swap, but I hit a brick wall. I happen to notice one red wire going to my alternator. I thought it was supposed to be a brown wire so, this made me dig deeper.
Connector details from what I've found
Truck - at least on the harness I have (was told it's from an '02)
A - not used
B - Red (supposed to be brown from what I've read.) Generator Lamp Terminal (alternator turn on signal)
C - not used
D - not used
Vette '04
A - not used
B - Red, Generator Lamp Terminal (alternator turn on signal)
C - Gray, Generator Field Duty Cycle Signal
D - 12+ volt
The alternator I'm using is a 145 amp out of an '04 LS6, which has three wires (as shown in the connector details above).
Questions:
1) Any ideas why the harness I have for position B has a Red wire for the Generator Lamp Terminal (alternator turn on signal) instead of a brown wire?
2) Looks like no changes are needed for position B. Correct?
3) Position C, the Generator Field Duty Cycle Signal, even though there is no wire on the truck harness, should I go ahead and manually run the gray wire from the LS6 alternator to pin 52 on the red connector of the truck's PCM?
4) Assuming I can connect the 12+ volt wire with the fuseable link (position D on the vette connector) to the red power distribution box on the truck. Correct?
Hopefully someone can help here...

You should buy a 30 day subscription to Mitchell or alldata for the wiring diagrams. It will be handy to have accurate information rather than advice from us....typically our answers are based on "l heard that...." < most typical reply... Or "my buddy's uncle said his nephew did this"

Well, I've seen/read about people running f-body accessories on their truck so I'm assuming they've had similar issues since the f-body and vette alternator wiring is the same. Just need to know how the 3 wire alternator is setup/wired in a 1 wire application.

My bad.. you are correct. I've looked at so many diagrams/schematics my head is spinning. If the 98-02 f-body is a one wire, wonder if the housing mounting holes are the same distance apart as the vette. Thoughts? That would solve my issue if this is the case. I thought about just buying a truck alt, but the mounting holes are further apart than the vette alt bracket (which I'm using) mounting location holes. What a cluster. lol.
