Only mods were tuning with AFM disabled and Homemade CAI and the car has repeatedly returned 18.5 to the most recent 19.7 city mpg while the DIC showed 18.7 and we have seen on average 26 mpg with a max of 28 mpg on the hwy. These are not DIC numbers, these are calculated numbers and the gas was about as even as I could get it, filling the gas to the neck everytime.

But again...this is a car to so....

GM has used this for CA/FED because the gov't wants all vehicles in the fleet to have a certain mpg rating by 2012 or something like that. I believe the mpg reading was 21?

My wife's 2006 5.3 DOD Trailblazer is all stock and I have played with turning on/off the DOD. While we don't care for the feeling of it going on and off it does appear to be good for ~1-2 mpg highway with cruise control on trips.

My 2010 AV has the active fuel management and it is imperceptible when it kicks in/out. I don't see how it is going to help fuel economy too much as it seems to rarely be in V4 mode. I have only done 1 highway trip with it so far, but I did not see V4 mode at all at highway speeds on roads that are pretty well as flat as it gets.

That said, this thing just sips fuel compared to my 04 AV(see sig).

When the Trailblazer was new it would kick in and out and was transparent. I could tell by looking at instant mpg. As it got miles on it you could feel it like it was shifting in and out of OD. I have HP Tuners and I tried playing with the settings but could not get rid of that shifting feeling. Last year I disabled the DOD and the truck was smooth as new but the mpg seemed a little less. We took a good long trip in which I logged both ways and turned the DOD on and off. With cruise it was fairly evident that the top MPG was a little better with it on by around 1-2 mpg. Around town the DOD can kick in but is not going to be a factor as it's really a set up for cruising, if not in cruise its too easy for it to sense load and kick off.
On the logs it is very evident when it kicks in and out.

I have a 5.7L 1998 Suburban. Gas mileage is around 13MPG city. Is not too bad for a V8, but I think you should not concern about gas mileage if you like to drive your V8.
