Default 98 GMC K1500 Converter Lockup Intermittent Problem.......Help!

I have a 98 GMC K1500 with the 5.7 and a 4L60E. Seems as though i have some type of intermittent electrical gremlin in the truck. Occasionally the converter doesn't want to lock up then randomly it will........its on and off........also i've noticed when it does this my cruise control also doesn't work............sound like a brake switch issue??? however my brake lamps are working correctly.......is there two switches on this truck? one for the lights one for the pcm??

any help would be appreciated

thanks!!
