Default #5 position on climate control doesnt work

I got a 2004 JGP silverado with dual zone climate control ( the kind with the sliders for temp and the dial for the blower not the digital thermostat). The blower works properly in positions 0(off) through 4( all on) but in position 5 its dead. any idea what would cause this?

a guy told me there is a 5 pin connector near the blower motor that might have a pin that shorted or blew out. I figured I would see what yall have to say before I look into it. any one else have this problem?

It sounds like the blower motor resistor is bad. It is the piece that bolts to the housing and has the plugin going to it. They are fairly cheap and simple to replace.

Probably gonna find that the resistor and the harness is burnt. Pretty common thing, don't know if the pigtail is available aftermarket. Might have to get that from the dealer.
