5.3L to 6.2L (L87) swap in 2007 GMC Sierra 1500
I am about to start on my project. I have donor L87 from a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 complete with wiring harness, ecm, pcm, tcm, fuel control module, fuse box, and electric power steering. From what I have found, everything should drop in and hook up. My biggest concern is having the bcm communicate with the ecm. Is this something I am probably going to have to re-pin in a 2020 clip so that it hooks into the fuse box and, if so, will I need to flash the VATs and reprogram the VIN from the ecm to the bcm? Any help or thoughts on the situation would be greatly appreciated!

Nothing will talk with your 2007 truck. They don't even use the same era of can-bus and all that jazz.
The only way to run that engine and computer would be for it to be a complete standalone system. It's going to cost you a ton of money just to tune that 2020 computer as well just to make it run in that truck.
The 2007 BCM will be useless and everything along with it. The cluster, ABS, traction control etc etc will no longer work too.
If the plan is to just use the 2007 as a roller, then this could work.

Texas Speed did a new L86 in an OBS truck. Stangkilr Productions did a LT4 ten speed swap on an OSB truck so yeah the GEN5 engine has been done in older platform trucks. Maybe their builds can shed some light on what you're up against.

So my understanding of this reply is that even matching the old bcm to the new bcm connector (rewiring the old bcm to match the 2020 clip) and matching the VINs, it still will not work?
