mine did the same thing intermittantly, mostly at highway speeds. i noticed it only did it for a split second before the a/c compresor cycled. i took the a/c belt off and turned the a/c on to rule out an electrical problem, and it was fine, ran great. the compressor was going out and trying to lock up as the compressor clutch engaged, causing a bog/shuttering problem. replaced thecompressor and its fine. does it make a difference if the ac is on or off?

is there any way to test if you have a faulty ignition coil? i assume those are fairly expensive to just go and replace, any one have a part number?

very carefully. take the MAF out, get a can of electronic parts cleaner that won't leave any residue, and have at it. if you want to get more into it, grab a q-tip and CAREFULLY swab the wires, just don't break them.

if you have a scan tool like EFI live, you can do a cylinder balance test. other than that, pull your plugs, all of them, and see what they look like. if you have one that is black, then it's obviously got a problem.
