i have 2005 chevy tahoe , the service 4wd light comes on everytime i start the truck. i have replaced the switch itself and still nothing. none of the lights are on. i have checked the fuse and its not burned out. what could it be?

This is why I went with a manual t case.

Its the encoder in the transfer case. For your year, I dont recall if its a separate ring like in the 99-03 (early) 246 cases, or in the motor.

There are differences year to year, so make sure you get the parts you need for your year.

I dont believe the case need to come apart for the repair

I have done the encoder motor on my wife's 05 Tahoe.
you can just pull it off the side of the tcase. No need to pull the tcase.
it wasn't hard to do at all.
she had no lights on her switch
