Default 2000 silverado no start

Buddy has a 2000 silverado. Said it had gotten where it wouldn't start and you could turn it off and on 2 or 3 times and it would start. Fuel pump is about a year old. Not checked anything yet but I thought I would ask. He is going to check it out on our next day off. Have any ideas. He said it runs good after it starts.

yeah cause if its not turning over, you have a starter problem. check for 12 volts at your solenoid. if it is turning over, then your probably right about fuel.

Did you mean it would crank ok but not start unless you tried several times?
If so, it's possible it could be the fuel pressure regulator. When mine went it either wouldn't start without cranking it a long time or it would try to start and die. If I turned the ignition key on but didn't crank it for 30 seconds it usually started ok. It would run and drive fine once it started.
Turn on the ignition key for 30-40 seconds then pull the vacuum hose off the regulator and check for gas in the line. If there is gas, it's bad. $45 at Auto Zone.
Good Luck

The most common problem is the fuel pressure regulator. Next is the pump. If you can hear the pump its probably the regulator If you can't hear the pump have someone wack the tank. If it starts right up It's probably the pump. If it doesn't start right up apply 12v to the fuel pump prime pin(its the empty hole right next to the fuel pump relay) then get a test light and see if you're getting 12 to the gray wire at the fuel pump connection. You could also be having a vats problem or an ignition problem.
