Default 2 airbag codes, any ideas?

My girlfriend's truck (03 Silverado single cab V6) was showing an air bag service light so I scanned the codes yesterday. There were 2 codes in history, B0084 and B0083, which are the driver and passenger side seat position switch for the SRS system. I checked the 2 connectors and both were plugged in and looked fine, not loose or corroded. The rail for the switch (hall effect) was dirty so I cleaned it as best as I could. Any idea what would cause these 2 codes to come on at the same time? The airbag service light will come on every so often and turn right back off. Some days it will do it very frequently and some days it will not come on at all. Any ideas guys?

There is a bulletin on it: Looks like they reporgram a module to fix it:

03 Chevrolet Silverado/Express - GMC Sierra/Savana Intermittent Airbag Telltale , Sets a False DTC of B0083 and/or B0084 -kw activated air calibration code indicator intermittent lamp #PIT3096 - (Aug 4, 2004)

Brief or intermittent airbag telltale", which sets a false DTC of B0083 and or B0084.

This effects Vehicles built in July and August 2002, Light Duty, GVWR < 8600" manual" or" power" front" seats.

Possible Customer Complaints:

1 Airbag telltale illuminated for a short period (about 10 seconds) of time.

2 Airbag telltale illuminated for a short period while adjusting the front driver/passenger seat.

3 Airbag telltale illuminated for a short period (about 10 seconds) of time.

Your welcome. I really didn't read it close but it is only for trucks built in months of July and August of 2002 but found under model year 2003. Strange.

thats because the new model year often starts in the fall, and more than likely plants were making the 2003s by June of 2002, if not earlier. I had the B0083 code in mine, but it was set for real and the cause was the pass. seat position sensor. It didn't appear damaged on the outside, nor do I keep anything under there that may have hit it/

I went to the dealership to ask them about the reprogram and they wanted to charge me $85 just to check the codes to make sure I was right after I told them the codes and had already pulled them with the Tech II plus extra to fix it . After that he asked me where I was going to work when I graduated with my auto tech degree and told me to come talk to him for a job. They can't trust my diagnostics yet they want to hire me?
