'18 6.2 truck to 6.2 Camaro maf swap

Default '18 6.2 truck to 6.2 Camaro maf swap

Was wondering if anyone knew what it would take to sway a new 6.2 Camaro maf sensor and the surrounding intake tube to a '18 Silverado with a 6.2 The 6.2 sucks air through a small 3.5 is tubing and Camaro looks like about 5 inches. Thanks.

The outside diameter of the tubing makes it look larger, it still only like a 4in intake.

From what I recall the rotofab intake kits are only using 4in intake tubes because the throttle body is still only so big. Also the MAF housing stays the same size because if it were to be any larger it would require custom tuning and they couldn't sell it as a bolt on and go kit.

If you want to get technical the truck isn't outflowing the stock intake size. It's the throttle body that is going to limit the airflow into the engine. As far as swapping parts that aren't worth the time it would require custom tuning if the MAF part numbers are different and the overall MAF tube size is larger than the trucks.

Default 4" maf

I did a 4" Maf and CAI and 90mm TB
swap on my 6.2, you just need to
adj the PCM for it.

The new 6.2 trucks definitely do demand more than the stock intake allows. It's not the tube though... It's the box on the fender being over 50% closed off compared to even the air box used in my 2017 HD. Mine layed down on the dyno at 5100 and quit building power...starting dropping at just over 5200 and gm rates them at 5800... fixing my air box rectified my intake issues.

Thanks for the info. I do plan on modifying the stock box. I've seen gains with cai set ups gain horsepower using a different intake box, but was skeptical. I may drill holes in stock box or take the detachable side piece off and leave it off and get some foam to seal it against inner fender.

Ideally I was hoping the two maf sensors would be plug and play (with maybe a tune adjustment) and just find a Camaro maf and surround and build an intake around it for my truck.

It was a PNP for the LS3 setup i built, just made
the adj in the PCM. they sell 4" MAF tubes
on e-bay

The truck MAF is more than capable of doing anything you want, swapping to a camaro swap is pointless. You can put the truck MAF in a larger tube or build an intake around it. Either way you go it will require custom tuning and on a DI engine like that with a very sophisticated torque model it's not just a walk in the park. 2017+ are more spendy to tune as well and of course the warranty is voided if tuned.
