ive got an 03 5.3 with 112k and my service engine soon light came on friday but its not throwing a code, ive tried a new fuel filter, could it be my MAF also? ive got a rough idle, crappy gas mileage, and slow accel.. feels like the truck is loafing really bad. only mods are a flowmaster dump...
That's what tells the engine how much air flow is coming in. The ECU reads that data and also reads the data from the MAP sensor on the Intake, the cam and crank sensors, and The O2 sensors to adjust the fuel trim.
With out being able to see a Live data stream it just a guessing game. Unless there is a stored code comanding the check engine light on or code stored as pending but has not yet comanded the light on.

IAC Valve= Idle Air Control Valve. This controls The Air Flow at Idle. If its sticking It would cause it to run rich. I cleaned mine and have not had a problem since

No pull it off and clean inside the throtle body and the sensor its self. It will have carbon build up on the sensor and in the air passage. You can use carb cleaner on it. When your done lube the shaft with something like WD40. Let it soak in for like 5 minutes and then re-install it.

I am not overly familiar with how the 06 electronic throtle body works, but the AIR passage on the left side when your standing at the front of the truck looking at the TB should be the passage for the Idle air control.

WELL..... I GOT HER FIXED!!!! I took it to my friend who owns DC Motorsports here in waco, and he checked the #7 injector and it was clogged like the fuel filter i replaced the other day! it had chunks in it! took about 10 mins to clean it out and now she's back to running like a champ! he said that the #7 & 8 injectors are bad about clogging up on the older 5.3s...
