06 2500 6.0 Misfire issue (po300)
#1
Hello, My 06 Is acting real funny It just hit 65,xxx and it feels like I have no power.I checked fuel pressure and that was good. I dont want to just start throwing parts at it, Thats not in the budget. I would like to narrow it down or get advice on what to check from you guys... It idles good but has a soft miss. Im new to the LS base motor so I dont know all the qorks they have. Please give me some ideas on what to check and whats needed to check it. My truck is all stock. Also what miles are guys changing spark plugs and wires at? Are there any common problems with these trucks? Im lost and just need a little help getting back on the right track...
Thanks

If you have time, pull the plugs to see if they all look the same. If some vary wildly from the others, you may have a weak injector or another problem.
Do you have a compression tester? You probably won't find anything there, but do it anyway.
Leave the truck running and touch each spark plug wire. Feel around the boots where it connects to the plug as well as where it connects to the coil on plug. If you don't get shocked, the wires aren't arcing and thats not where your problems at. If you do have a a spark tester (less than 10 dollars) go that route instead.
Since your at the 65K mark anyway- I would put a couple cans of Seafoam in the gas tank just to rule out fuel pump issues and your fuel filter is probably due already.
Theres a ton of ways to "skin this cat".
As for scanners, you NEED a GM Bosch/ TECH 2 but they cost a ton. I have one at the place I work and I think they said it was around 7,000?

Had a similar issue with mine. P0300, loss of power, the truck would fall on it's face at WOT. My buddy let me borrow his shops tech 2 and Cyl #1 was misfiring, I swapped the coils, no changes. Threw plugs and wires in, no changes. Ended up bringing it to the dealer and it was a plugged cat..
