Default '05 5.3 in '01 truck?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I'm not very familiar with the changes and updates GM made on the Silverado through the last few years. My Z71 has over 200k on the clock and is starting to show its age, so I'm thinking of replacing the motor and trans to give it some new life. I've found a deal on an '05 5.3 with less than 50k on it, and I would like to jump on it before its gone. It comes complete with the ecu and harness, but I'm not sure if the newer wiring setup is compatible with my trucks gauges and other electronic gagets. Or if my harness would work with this engines sensors, etc. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance, and if it is a topic that's been repeatedly discussed, feel free to point me to the thread and b**ch at me for not searching enough before posting!

The Long block will swap right in. Things like the throtle body the intake and exahust manifolds will mostlikely need to be retained.

99-02 silverado 1500 were cable operated throtle bodies and usually have an EGR system.

03-07 classic are electronic throtle body and do not have an EGR system.

computers and wiring harness are different. Some sensors may have different plugs Use the ones from your truck if it look different.

Thanks a lot! I was pretty sure the long block was the same, but I wanted to be sure if a sensor didn't match my harness' plug I could just use the ones from my current engine. I know some engine sensors are more specific than others when it comes to different year models. This engine says it comes with an LS1 intake (not sure why), so I planned on re-using my factory intake anyway, as I've heard it would make better torque than the Camaro/Corvette intake. Not sure if that's true, but I remember reading somewhere when I was building my Camaro that the truck (not sure if it was 5.3 or 6.0) intake made more torque on an LS1 if you could fit it under the hood. I really appreciate the info 1FastBrick!!!

The short runners on the LS1 intake Allow it to make like 2-4 more horse power over 200rpm lower but at a loss of 2-4 lbs tourque.

The senors are the cam and crank this was when the switched from 24x to 58X reluctor wheels. the sensors went from 24x = black to 58 = Grey. I dont believe the truck engines had this issue. I believe its car related like LS1-LS2
