Default 02 PCM vs 03 PCM

Are there any differences keeping me from getting the 03 coustom tuned?

I have a 02, and I want a mail order tune, and I was looking to save some money buy sending off a 03 PCM, keeping my 02 PCM, and using the tuned 03 PCM. I know that there's a difference in the older ones, but what about the newer 03s ?

03 PCM is a 1MB PCM and has all of the provisions for Electronic Throttle Control. 02 is a 512Kb PCM.

And if the truck pcms are like the f-body ones, the 02s use different color-coded (and "keyed") connectors than the 03s.

on the 02's it is red and blue,on the 03-06 it is green and blue.
if you have an 02 you need to use an 02 with the last 4 digits service number which is 0411

As Justin said on the f-bodys, connectors and colors changes. It probably won't work unless you have something very different or a late year model

Different structure in the PCM as well I believe. THe 03 up PCMS are also faster than the previous ones.

IS there anyway around this issue? I have an 02 PCM ( I assume, with all the mail orders I did before I may have a 2000)

Anyway, I was trying to do a complete reflash of my PCM with a different OS. The different OS supported more PIDs in EFI Live than my current OS does. I was told by EFI that it could not load because I have 512kb PCM and it needed a 1mb.
So I guess I'm stuck with a slower PCM (bus speeds I assume) and an OS that EFI only half supports? Paul/Ross...I'm still waiting on the update to correct this....

Not entirely stuck. If your tahoe does not have the fuel composition sensor, then you have no need for the flex fuel OS that you are currently running and can switch to OS 12212156. This is what I was going to help you with last week but stopped short because of the flex fuel stuff in your current PCM.

I've never even seen a ethanol/methanol station. My truck would probably explode if I tried to run it. Paul/Ross told me the next update (this week I hope) will include all the PIDs I need for my OS. I did hook up my LC-1 to EFI today. I've only been putting that off for 6 months
Still trying to sort out the idle issue.
