What are the benefits of upgarding a stock 99 pcm to a stock 02 pcm?

99's picked up alot of false knock = timing retard = loss in power !

Yup i upgraded from 99pcm to 02 and my truck feels like a totally different truck.. Definetely one of the best mods ive done..

I believe 99-00 PCM's are the same, so I would definetely look into upgrading..

I would think you could pick one up for less than 100 bucks from a junkyard, just make sure the last 3 digits of the serial number are 411 ( I think thats right)..

Definitely a night and day difference, especially with a cam. My 99 PCM was virtually untuneable from of the false knock it was picking up from the increased valvetrain harmonics after my cam swap.
