I have a 1994 dodge caravan and it has a transmission leak, not too bad but need to refill it every 3000 miles or so.
Anyway, with that said, i was driving the other day going about 35, went to accelerate a little and it hesitates to go, like shuttering bad.
so after that it starts to do at idle and at about 45 mph. It feels like if the engine was driven by a belt, it was slipping bad.
So today it just starts doing it at almost all speeds. if I get on the throttle, it just does it even worse and I hear a loud clancking noise 2 or 3 times. Sometimes when I hit the gas hard it accelerates normal tho. I cant tell if its the engine or the transmission.
If I accelerate really slowly, it wont do it, and I mean really slowly. Under normal driving conditions it does it.
Any ideas?? Thanks in advance guys

got no choice... it's gotta come out.... before you do, drop the pan and see how much and what kind of material is in the pan... more than 2 teaspoons of fiber is bad news and any metal is a really bad news.... if you have had a leak, what is the most tranny fluid that had to be refilled at one time? .... more than likely it is fried..

I don't know what engine you are running, but about that time frame the A-413 was a famous tranny for chrysler, in everything from neons to mini vans. I run the 413s in my shelby cars if I run an automatic in them, but they are cliff ramsdell trannys and built extremely well. But my experience with the 10 or so I have gone thru, rebuild it. You can get a good rebuild kit for less than a $100 or so and its not that difficult of a job to do. If its an A-413 tranny, let me know and I can help you out.
