Question 87-95 5.7 TBI: Best Shifts Points/rpm?

I have a custom tune and personaly told the tuner to set my shift points:

WOT: 1st - 2nd @ 5000 rpm
WOT: 2nd - 3rd @ 4600 rpm

The orignal tune was:

WOT 1st - 2nd @ 5000 rpm
WOT 2nd - 3rd @ 5000 rpm

On the original tune it shifted hard 1-2 without any acceleration flat spots. @ 2-3 shifted ok, but had a bad acceleration flat spot around 80 mph.

The new shifts points seem to have flip floped, Now 1-2 has a flat spot and 3-4 is good.

This is a 4L60E with a B&M shift improver and a Corvette servo.
My question is to anyone with a 95 or older running a TBI and a custom tune.

Where is the best shift points/rpm at WOT?

mine shifts at about 5100 and 4950 under wot, but when i race i spin it to 6500 and 6200, only difference being its an 89 so it has an r4 tranny, and i have also confirmed mine to be a roller motor.

I'm not sure who that question was for, but I have a custom mail order tune from Sinister Performance in Fort Wayne IN. I've sent him tons of TTS Data Master files so its like my truck is there. We correspond online and if any major problems occur his Shop is just an hour in a half away.

You definetly want to lower your shift points. The TBI motors don't flow enough air to handle higher rpms. my 383 with a holley tbi made max HP at about 3900 and the torque was nice and flat from 3k to about 3900 also.

You aint kidin' I dropped um to 4200 and it pulls all out know, all my drag times improved a ton. My truck was making peak hp at 4100 and peak torque at 3800 so shifting at 4200 keeps the shift drop right in the power-band, day and night difference from 5000 rpm where it was going flat and not pulling.

I ran this past Friday and pulled a 2.14~60 ft. thats weighing in at 5050, w/stock cam, stock heads and stock intake. 1/8 mile was 9.84. My mph is down because a run really short tires and don't make a lot of hp about 250 at the wheels but its pulling 400 ft/lbs with those stock 193's.
