Default worthless 4.8 mods for co-worker.

Ok, so my co-worker got himself a 08' sierra 4x2 cc with a 4.8,and he want to mod it as if it was an old skool 350 chevy.this is his first gm truck! He comes from a family of dodges and toyotas.so i want you guys to give him some input on this subject. He is not a member here yet but i told him once he is he will understand what we are all about here at pt.net.oh btw he wants to buy a trick flow top end kit he saw in the summit racing catalog it says its for a 4.8,5.3,6.0.it says its a truck kit.he will read this from my droid phone at work.he wants yo pull 350 to 375 hp out of this 4.8.i told him to do that turbo is the way to go,but he said no.

boost is the only way. unless he bottle feeds it. Tell him to quit pu$$y footing around and join! There are TONS of topics/tips on this site that will put him where he needs to be. Tell him that to help him SAVE money to research his mods FIRST to see if they are even worth it. Too many people buy crap that brings nothing to the table in terms of HP to the wheels. the 4.8l is a dawg from the factory but with the right mods it can be a BEAST that will challange the bigger ci motors out there!!!

I would not recommend going NA on a 4.8. Go turbo, that's the only way to make big consistent power on the little motor.

The top end kit could transfer over to a 6.0 if need be..
I think Rhino79 had a converter/headers/tune and ran a 8.93 in the 1/8th.. Thats good for high 13's/low 14's....Not to bad for a 2wd crew cab IMO...The thread can be found here.. Your buddy may not see 350+ at the tires but hp numbers dont matter, its all about that time slip

Id go with a kit from a sponsor here along with a converter to match and let er' rip...

cant go wrong with a trick flow top end, but in the end it's money that could go to a nice turbo setup and gain 5x the power...

Swap in a 6.0 and be done with it. I spent tons and did every mod available and it was still slower than the lq9

Let him get the dodge and have him put it on a dyno to see if it really makes 390hp with no mods lol

Maybe an srt-10 lol

Really, a 5.3 or 6.0 would be satisfactory if he were looking to make that HP n/a
