Consider this a reminder as to why seatbelts are so important. Facts are Facts. Seat belts protect you in MOST of the wrecks you will be involved in. The odds of getting in a wreck where it doesn't matter are not nearly as great. Don't be stubborn. You wouldn't walk down the middle of an interstate and rely on god to make sure you stay safe so don't drive down the road with no seat belt doing the same.
So Wednesday afternoon my grandpa was heading to Edmond and apparently wasn't paying attention. He swerved to miss a car that had slowed to turn but ended up hitting it at 65-70mph and then went into the opposite lane and was hit head on by another car which actually lifted his truck off the ground and spun it around in the middle of the road.
He was not wearing his seat belt and ended up hitting his head on the passenger side window and windshield which pretty much killed him instantly as far as we know. The person who hit him head on had to be cut free from the car because it was so tore up. The only reason they survived is because of their seatbelt keeping them from flying around inside the car. I went and got pictures of his truck and know for a fact that if he'd been wearing his belt his chances of survival would have been substantially better.
He was a great man that was always up beat and would give anyone the last bit of money he had if they needed it. He would never ask for anything in return. hell every time I helped him I had to find out myself if he needed help because he would never ask anyone. He had more friends than you could ever imagine and we are all going to miss him dearly.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Just PLEASE wear your belts. He'd still be here if he had wore his. At the very least we could have been able to have an open casket at the funeral which i really wish we could do. Unfortunately he sustained too much facial damage for anyone to get to see the body after the wreck. From the morgue he was sent straight to the funeral home and then to cremation.

Im very sorry for your loss of a loved family member.
I too lost my brother Tadd who was 39, in Feb. He wrecked his suburban on icy roads, not going very fast, hit a ditch and was thrown from the vehicle. Broke his neck and died on impact.
IF he was wearing his seatbelt he would have lived and we wouldnt have went through so much pain and agony.
I agree, please guys wear your belts!!!!
