Question Why doesn't anyone mod the SSR?

I cannot think of one person on here who has modded one or even owns one of them. Is it because they're too expensive or because they're ugly.

Also, does anyone know any real life track times out of one of them stock?

15 seconds plus on the early models with the 5.3L

I read they're heavy and not really suited for modding- More for retro-sytling
and to 'cruise in'. Could be wrong though since anything can be modded
and with so many GM aftermarket parts, you'd think somebody's done it....

i was cruzin one day and seen a SSR sittin at a stop sign. as i passed i threw a rev at him, he pulled into the lane after i passed and i could hear the whine inside my truck with the windows up. as i turned my head he was already passin me. it looked brand new so it musta had a 6.0 in it. black with chrome rims, lowered a lil bit. beautiful!!!!!

Main reason is they're very heavy and also there are not very many out there.

I'm sure Joe from Left Coast 32 will chime in and perhaps show us some pics of his and/or his buddy's SSR, which is HEAVILY modded.

Here is a thread on my partners SSR. We are in the process of adding WCCH L92 Heads and a Custom TVS2300. There are also a laundry list of other mods being done to it right now. Watch for a thread real soon in the Projects Gallery.

Very nice, leftcoast!
And just to calrify, I wasn't saying they're not for modding, just things I heard/read.

You dont' see many of them on the road. I think people got'em stored away- collector's items. Heck, I think I've heard about more Elvis sightings than the SSR....

Most of the SSR are only driven as pleasure vehicles. There are quite a few that are running MagnaChargers. They really are a fun drop top vehicle that takes to mods very well.
