Unfortunately I am screwed and have to use dial-up. My only option is Hughes satellite or Sprint wireless. Supposedly Sprint has a tower nearby and works here in the woods.

One thing that pisses me off is that here in my part of Texas, I can't get high speed, but in the Freakin' mountains in Arkansas there's high speed EVERYWHERE!!!

 

na what sux is when youre used to hi speed internet and you go build a home in the woods, then have to convert to dial up as its your only choice or satellite which is very expensive for 15 meg down stream.. thats a big problem

 

I was using dial up until about a month ago when I finally got wireless. It was the only option here in Yellow Grass, Saskatchewan (any Bruins fans heard of my hometown?) until a year ago. I was on the waiting list for 3 months. Someone on here has one of those queer little sigs with the monster holding up a sign ripping on crappy computer combos that said "Your IP is SaskTel!" Well, that sign pretty much described my setup to a tee. Doh.

 

Parents have it and it blows when mom calls and asks me to come out and patch up her PC. Takes. All. Day. There is a local cable company offering wireless broadband to country folks, but can't talk them into changing service. I was out there the other day and dug up my old WebTV box, remember those?

 

I use dial up while listening to my old 8 track tapes...
