Default Who knows about CTS-V reliability?

Been looking at purchasing a used 2009-2011 CTS-V with the LSA for me, I mean the wife, to drive to replace her very economical but very boring 2006 Civic. I know the performance numbers and specs, but I'm looking for feedback as far as common problems and such. I know with the GTO's people had lots of problems with factory bushings failing. I haven't gotten onto any Cadillac forums to check yet. Anyone know anything about this kind of stuff? Or are these cars pretty solid?

you took the vows? BTW, the only thing i have heard about them is the rear-end is weak, meaning it lets go if you launch hard on it.

Yep, as of Oct 22 Sorry boys

If we end up getting one it will stay stock and I'm not planning on taking it to the track or modding it at all, so hopefully the rear end won't be an issue. I like the idea of 550 hp with a warranty.

I would say the GTO's bushings "failing" was grossly overstated by a particular bushing vendor over on those forums. Why not look at a G8 for her an put a maggie on it. Same power for a whole heck of a lot less money. I think driving the G8 is more comfortable anyways.

The weak rear is on the V1s not the V2s. The V2s are stout. No real problems. The autos have a shift flair problem on the 3-4 but a few people have figured out how to tune it out. They're awesome cars and will be my wifes next vehicle too. They candle a lot of power too. Guys are running cammed with full bolt ons with a 150 shot and no problems. I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Don't waste your money on the recaros from what I've read.

Bought my wife one a year ago with 20k miles and it now has 33k and haven't done a thing to it. I put some magnaflow mufflers on just for sound and we both really like them.

Our's has every option including Recaro's. I love the feel of the recaro seat but if your over 250lbs there probably gonna be to small for ya.

Just go test drive one you'll be sold

Thanks for the reviews guys, sounds like it is everything I was hoping it would be. Next step is to test drive one, then I think once our tax refund comes it will be time to pull the trigger.

I had a GTO and had bad strut tower bushings cause premature wear on a set of $1200 tires, and was close to replacing the radius rod bushings as well when I finally sold it. That was with only 35,000 miles on it.

I like the G8's but I want something a little nicer, stock, with a warranty. I don't want to buy a car and have to add anything to it.

they are very nice cars , dont throw out the e class benz slightly used , they are awesome cars too , if you plan to leave it stock at least , i know the new e63 is as fast as the cts -v but with a smaller motor and bi turbo. (also cost a bit more for new though) .

i was in the same boat and ended up with a benz , i know less about them so likelihood of staying stock were better. it just got a tune , lol.

How are the used ones priced compared to the V's? I don't mind looking into them but I've always been averse to the German cars. I guess I just don't like the image that comes with owning a Benz.
