thanks for all the great points, and i agree with ALL of them
however, when i began trying to sell my truck in 09, the truck was an 07 model.. it was bluebooking for 13K on every site you could find.. and i had another 10K+ in engine, trans, rear end, rims/tires, stereo, etc... along with a purchase price of around 18K ish ...
so with that said, if anyone of you can tell me that you were forced to sell your beloved truck, which you had nearly 30K invested in, and someone offered you 10K for ... tell me that you wouldnt be irritated with that..
and i will tell you that you are a ******* liar.
that was my main point
i have bought and sold many things, and i understand the system.. but put yourself in those shoes and walk for a minute.. i guarantee you, you would not be happy with that horseshit offer anymore than i was.
and thanks TXsilverado for thinking i am a moron.. that made me laugh. as you have spent more money/time on your truck than 90% of the people on here.... i almost hope you get in the situation where you HAVE to let that truck go. then you can see where i am standing. pal.
good day

naw, man I see where you come from. I would hate to see mine go for cheap, just because I was forced to let it go. but then again, thats the way the world works. if people low ball you, high ball them. havent you seen pawnstars? the old man is like that, they say 500, he says 200, they say 400, he says 100...lol. I love that show. point is not to let them **** with ya, and use their Jewish ways against them.

Perfect examply of why I laugh at half of the people on this site. They spend thousands of dollars on a truck that isnt even theirs. Pay the note off first then mod, so if tough times hit then you dont have a truck payment to deal with instead of a nice modded truck that you have to sll because you were stupid and dumped 10 grand into a truck you still owed mor than it was worth. Not to mention the rediculous amount of interest you save, people spending money like that is a big reason why the economy is in the state it is. Buy now, pay later eventually catches up with you.

$50,000 is kinda steep. whats the least you will take for your truck chris? will you take $5500?

You can put their minds at ease really quickly by simply restating your original asking price if that's truly what you want to get for it!
But as far as the bargaining or haggling part, it will always be there, it's really just a common form of negotiation so if you are selling some thing just be prepared for it.
Now what I truly despise and pisses me off to no end is when I see some one doing the bargaining and haggling to some one who is in a "must sell" situation because of any number of unfortunate events...then that person could truly be trying to be an opportunist and really take advantage of some one and their situation.
I have bought things I didn't even need before for what a seller in that situation was asking just so some dumb *** slouch wouldn't get it for next to nothing and if I didn't end up with the item then the other guy was at least forced to pay a fair asking price to get it.
Another thing to consider is that a lot of people ask that question because they have some money, but probably not enough and want to see exactly what you want to determine if it is even plausible for them to attempt to get the rest of the money or make an offer close to what your asking.
And finally there are the asswipes out there too who are just asking to ask and have no interest. ...

Selling things that have a large emotional investment by the owner is always tricky. I cant tell you how many hours ive worked on my truck and how much blood and sweat ive spent on it, but in the end someone looking to buy it doesnt really care. How much is all of that work really worth to the owner....
That's because of emotional attachments and financial 'investments' people make in their cars. One could consider modding a vehicle as an investment if and only if owner intends to use these mods himself; preferably throughout car's natural lifetime. When someone mods a vehicle and then wants to sell it then this so called investment automatically becomes a liability. For every thousand bucks one spends on a mod he will be able to recover 10, perhaps 20, percent. This doesn't get thru to a lot of sellers and if they invest a thousand they feel they should get it back during sale time. That's extremely unrealistic. Having said that bring me to this ...
Far more important is the recognition of a difference between what YOU think you car is worth and what it is REALLY worth. Kelly Blue Book, NADA, Edmunds.com ... (what they say about car value[s]) that's bunch of bullshit to which a lot of ignorant people jerk off to and quote as facts. Sure enough; when insurance companies give you a quote they go by KBB but when time comes for pay for it (stolen, totaled, whatever) they pay you market. The oldest trick in a book.
The only way you can truly determine how much something is worth is to put it up on the auction. IT IS WORTH WHAT PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. For example, people are willing to pay 5-7x the retail price for an iPhone but in time of declining economy, crisis and high gas prices they aren't willing to pay your asking price for a car. That unfortunate fact causes you and a lot of other sellers a lot of grief and sometimes anger.
There is also a difference between what the car is worth and what once could possibly sell it for. This is what happens at car dealerships. If you buy a new car from a dealer and immediately put it up on an auction you will find out how much you overpaid. Usually around 30% if not more.
... a good deal and low ball offer fall somewhere in between.

It is what it is, and we deal with life as it comes our way. Everyone made very valid points.. I guess you just cant put yourself in that situation until you have been there. lose everything in your home, lose the right to see your child everyday, and then practically give away your truck you spent almost 3 years building. A SUPER low ball offer will make you want to puke. Seriously. Its just that icing on the cake of misery. And it pissed me off each time.
Normal haggling never bothered me, and normal low ball offers didn’t either.. but 9K and 10K for that truck, when it was 2 years old with a fresh 370 and built trans, with all the trimmings.. that got me burned.

haha dont lose your sense of humor. the moron part was a joke since you called everyone looking for a good deal a moron. you would be surprised how much i dont have into my truck. ive been scavenging the forums for 5 or 6 years asking sellers for their bottom dollar But, thanks for wishing bad luck my way!
i just have never been a moron, and it didnt delight me being called one. but if i can call another person that, you can call me that. my sense of humor never died through any of my life.
i have talked to you on here quite a few times.. and i need not engage in a sparring match of words. its all good in my hood
