whats wrong with my computer

Yeah I gotcha man. If you try what Skeet and I are suggesting (disabling startup programs) be careful. There won't be any kind of description telling you what each program is except a file path in some cases. Try disabling one or two at a time until you figure out what each one is and see if it helps. I also agree with BlackGMC......Windows just tends to slow down over time. I format mine once or twice a year as well to keep it running smoothly.

Had the same problem, to this day I have no idea of what it was?
Running very slow, picture freeze, programs take forever to load.
Have to reload programs just to get them going.
Some games worked, some did not.
Games that did work, would not run or play right.
I did the clean up routine, defrag, Scan disk, did virus scan nothing helped at this time.
talk to friends that knew more then me, went through ms config, shut it all down, Brought it all back up one at a time, then finely reinstalled windows.
Still had the same damn problem, to this day still don't know what it was.
then the real fix, had to remove the HD from the PC and install it in another PC as a slave.
Used windows on a different PC to do a full format on the HD.
took it out of the other PC and installed back in to mine and did a clean install of windows, loaded all of my drivers back in for the printer, mouse, video card, Well, loaded everything back in.
have not had a problem since, all we could think of is that something got a hold of the PC either by e mail or web site and virus scan from Norton or McAfee could not Detect it.
all i know is that it turned my PC in to a big peace of ****
That even my wife wanted to through in the trash.

Download HIJACKTHIS and do a scan with it. Post up the results.
also go to RUN and type in REGEDIT
go to HKey_Local_Machine / Software / microsoft / windows / current version / then to RUN and either post it or do some searches on whats in there and delete any non crucial threads. Do the same thing under Hkey_current_user.
And as previously stated, make sure the ram is compatible with the board. Mismatching ram can cause problems that will make you think it's posest.
