I think that child rapists should be able to be executed, the victims of these crimes feel the effects the rest of there lives. The death penalty in California is a joke plain and simple. I support the death penalty but I cant remember the last time they executed someone with the unending appeals process we have in California. Complete bs how they worry about the criminals rights rather than the victims.

If someone rapes a kid they should die, no question! After doing something so horrible it proves that the person is F'd up in head and should not walk around on this planet (not even prison). The justice system is corrupt these days and there is always the chance that the guy is just going to walk out of prison and do it again, it happens everyday!

The reason for the long appeals process is to make sure that a person is correctly convicted. Time and again they find people who are put in jail and on death row have been exonerated because of evidence found later. Once a person is dead there is no going back. This again is why I feel that it is better to permanently imprison criminals rather than put them on death row.

Our entire legal system is based on the fact that we do not want to wrongfully imprison a person. By cutting down those checks and balances we increase the likely hood of imprisoning the wrong person and even killing the wrong person.

I agree that California's judicial process is a joke. I believe those dollar figures posted..

Other states however do not spend NEARLY the same amount as Cali... Yes I know Cali is a populated state but as stated above the time / money to get a rapist or murderer behind bars or underground is ridiculous.

Please give an example of another states cost of death penalty vs. life imprisonment for an inmate that supports what you are saying.

California I think is the best example of our prison system since they imprison the most people in the country. This is due to again the war on drugs and the 3 strikes rule which I believe is an overused law, if you are convicted of 3 felonies over time you are put in prison for 25 years minimum, and this is for any felony not just violent crimes.

Another reason why the prison population is so out of control in California is the prison guards union they are the largest union in the state and have great voting power. They are a group that would of course want prisoners in jail longer and imprisoning more people, which would mean more job security and that is the way they have voted time and again.

We need to spend more on deterrence of crime and less on our prison system. We need to increase spending for police departments to get more officers out on the street, youth outreach programs to try and help these kids before they get sucked into the life of the crime, and drug programs to help get these people off their addictions.

Not to mention is more cost effective to imprison people than to execute them.
it`s called the death PENALTY not the death deterrent.

$4.00/gallon of gas and $.25 for a lighter, I dunno, the death penalty looks pretty cheap to me for those who feel the need to rape a child

IF YOU were to kill them. If the government was to do it it would be;

Subcontractor to get gas and lighter: $1,150
Fuel surcharge for travel to and from for getting gas: $125
Container for gas (new container for each death row inmate): $89
Gas: $8 for a gallon (hey, it's the government)
Lighter: $12 (hey, they need to get the one that gives them plenty of distance from the inmate.
New subcontractor that has "clearance" to transport the gas passed the security gates: $875
(2) Guards for the gas until it is time to use the gas: $2,250
Cost of the safety program to "certify" the person using the gas: $234,000
Through contract terms with the subcontractors, the gas can't be used until they are paid in full for their services. All the paper work, government employees' salaries, heating/air conditioning, electric, data connections, etc etc etc: $1.05 Million
The (5) guards that are required to be witnesses to the execution and bring he subject to the "burn area": $3,145

...sigh

Like I said, he should die Jack Ruby style. If I was on a jury I'd make sure you were exonerated.

I understand that they dont want to put someone to death that may be innocent..but ya gotta think im sure that there are some snott nosed kids that have said somebody touched them or somethin just get some one they dont like in trouble. i gotta little bratty cousin-in-law i could see doing this once shes gets a little older.. but if ya aint going to put them to death at least castrate the ones that have done really bad crimes, or they do it more than once put them to death or castrate them..they do it once they will do it again and again and again if they are allowed to, its just how that person is wired
