Is there any proof that keeping the trans under 150 with these aftermarket coolers makes any difference in longevity?

 

Keeping it under 150 won't increase the longevity. 150 is about a perfect temp. Just try to keep it under 200 for a long life.

 

I just dont understand why everyone rushes to put hige coolers on. Youd think if it increased longevity GM would have put bigger coolers on.

 

$ my friend, it costs more. Just like 80E cost more than a 60. GM can't throw everything on just cause it's got greater longevity or ...

Heat kills trannies. After that, I'd say weight. I agree built408, u reach a threshold ~150. I think too cool would be like beatin on a cold tranny or cold motor. Warm is OK, not hot, or even worse, overheated.

 

I know every one loves the 40K GVW cooler but I do not think that I need something that friggin huge, so what would be a ideal one for my application?

 

Its not Ideal for my application either, But it was only a little bit more than the smaller ones so I said screw it might as well get the big daddy..
