Default What im into....

So i just thought id let you guys know about what i do as a senior in high school. I am part of the First Robotics Program, WE pretty much build a robot in 6 weeks then go compete with other teams from around the world. There are regional all around the world that teams go to, to compete for a spot at the internationals which, this year, was in st.louis. I am lucky enough to be a Driver of the robot and team captain. Some people call it nerdy, i think its cool. [there are some nerds in Robotics, some of which dont know how to work a wrench... i thankfully, know how to use alot of tools so i build alot of it...] There are about 25 people on our team. Here is a link to there website and a few compitition pics....

Few pics... [That is me on the ground...]

And our robot, 1706

And this is just one match at the regional

We have a robotics and engineering clubs similar to that at our school too. If I'm not mistaken we went to nationals last year.

Our science department is hardcore... one kid in my Physics class as a Junior this past year developed a system of echolocation that would allow the blind to know when they are coming to object, and another kid worked on a project tying in a system of RFID tags... That person got 1st in state for Science fair at the high school/ collegiate level.

And I don't think its nerdy, I think it's neat, I just don't have the patience or creativity for something like building a robot :p

Having a background in robotics will REALLY help you out should you decide to go an engineering route in college. Great stuff you guys are doing.

It seems like my school has an awesome everything program.

1st in AP pass rate, 1st in AP 5 rate, 1st place national speech team, 2nd place siemens science award winner, multiple state science qualifiers, state ranked academic decathalon and whiz quiz teams, state soccer, baseball and basketball champs iirc

It's a competitive school to say the least...
