Just did a quick search on KBB and I think it showed $8700 for "excellent" condition.

yea. I used my zip and it showed 9100 for excellent Suggested retail value and 4600 for private party.

He hasn't really done anything special to it. The drop and tonneau covers didn't really set him back a whole lot.
Looking at ebay i'd offer 6-7k. If that paint and interior are amazing then i'd get up to 8k tops. Personally
